It may sound a bit scaring to watch a dystopian thriller web tv series, in view of the current situation… 😣 However, it can be an opportunity to reflect on how human beings try to learn from mistakes of the past. 😷🔍 History has shown that politic systems have changed a lot to keep peace in the world. Wait, is it really for this reason? Sometimes we forget to be human and we do everything in order to achieve our goals. The end justifies the means, right? 🤔
So, how about focusing on that Brazilian Netflix series: 3%. Created by Pedro Aguilera in 2009, the series is set in an unspecified future. We know most the population lives in poverty 🤕 (the Inland), while those in the Offshore live in virtual. Every year, each 20-year-old has a chance of getting to the Offshore through a series of tests called “the Process”, but only 3% make it. It seems like it’s fair, like it’s a kind of meritocracy. It’s interesting to see how people can accept a politic system. 🎓💼 We understand all the wheels of a political system supposed to be full of justice. We see how people can react when we push their limits. Can we compare this situation with ours? Does democracy exist for real? Isn’t it a big lie? We still have rich and poor people; social class are real but politics try to disguise the reality. Maybe this series looks more like our society. It’s about justice, cooperation, love, friendship, pursuit of happiness… Well, I advise you to watch 3% because it will definitely make you bee racking your brain wondering what you would do if you were the protagonists. 🧐
